5 PR Tips for Boosting Your Home Business

July 10, 2009 by Mary Emma Allen

You may have a home business, but unless you get the word out…continually…about it, you won’t have customers/clients.  Your products will sit there, or your services will go unnoticed while you hope to earn income.

Five PR Tips for starters:

  1. Promote continually.  One ad, one blog post, one letter to a prospect won’t cut it.  You need to get your name out there…again and again.
  2. Check out your venue.  If you’re primarily an online business, then advertising in your local newspaper won’t do much good.  If you’re looking for a local market, check out how to reach them rather than a global market.
  3. Try to find as much free or low cost advertising as you can.  This includes media releases, interviews and
  4. Set up a blog.  There are free ones to start with.  Then post there frequently and make sure the link is on your business cards.
  5. Establish an e-mail address, if you don’t have one, so prospects can contact you, even if you’re a walk-in shop.

What have you found successful for PR?  There are many more than I’ve named here.
