I think it’s great that because of the web, the word can spread more easily and events such as these can become global.

Some cynics scoff or argue it’s the wrong approach. It’s certainly not enough on its own to prevent climate change and other environmental problems from reaching calamitous proportions, we all understand that.

Mostly it’s a matter of being conscious that, with electricity, the more we use, the more damage we cause.

Events like this remind us all that there’s no such thing as a free kilowatt

Robert – One thing I’m curious about… I always thought it took more power to switch lights back on again than actually running them for the hour, or is that only fluorescent lights?

I’d love someone to correct me or clarify this. If that is true, then I guess it’s more a symbolic awareness raising gesture.
