Celebrate Universal Children’s Day In Your Business – November 20

In 1954, the United Nations declared November 20th as Universal Children’s Day.

This is an international celebration and observance of the rights of children. The United Nations says Universal Children’s Day should

…be observed as a day of worldwide fraternity and understanding between children.

Are there opportunities for your business to celebrate with children’s activities, community fundraising or business-school partnerships?

Some Ideas

  • partner with children’s oriented businesses
  • donate % of proceeds to a children’s charity
  • organize children’s activities to celebrate
  • tie the theme into your current displays
  • raise awareness through your website
  • raise awareness through a newspaper article
  • learn more about Universal Children’s Day yourself
  • spend time with your own children
  • talk to your children about other cultures
  • community fundraising for e.g. One Laptop Per Child

  1. Bridget says:

For Children’s Universal Day, I’ll be going to my son’s school on Monday and sharing the meaning of Thanksgiving with them. Showing them how other cultures celebrate, what they do, the different foods they eat and what the holiday means to their culture. I’m hoping that there will be an awareness raised about other cultures and being sensitive to the say they do things and how they celebrate holidays.

  2. Thank you, Bridget, for stopping by Home Biz Notes and letting us know what you’re doing for Children’s Universal Day. That should be fun for you and the children…sharing with the youngsters in your son’s class the celebrations of other cultures. I’m a substitute teacher (one of my many hats) and always find it enjoyable when parents come in and present programs for the children. Also, as a children’s author, I frequently give presentations for youngsters.

  3. Bridget – That’s a fantastic idea. Enjoy the day.
