Do You Have a Vision for Your Home Business?

March 1, 2007 by Mary Emma Allen

VISION…What is it?

According to D. Conway Stone in Follow Your Dreams, “The first step to turning your dream [establishing a home business] is to establish a vision.  A vision is simply a picture of what you want to come true.”

He also mentions that Michael Gerber, founder of the Gerber Business Development Corp., says one of the reasons small businesses [home businesses included] fail is “lack of vision.”

Do you have a vision for your home business?

*A clear picture of what you want to accomplish.

*A picture, in words and graphics, sketches and/or photos, with many details.

*A vision with goals for today, one year, five years, ten years….

How clear is your vision?  The clearer you can make your vision, the better your chances of accomplishing your goal.

Sounds hokey?  Give it a chance…you can’t lose.

  1. I agree with you wholeheartedly. To get somewhere, we need a place to go – a clear picture of where we want to be. What does that look like?

Write down your vision (be specific) and then think of things you can do today to work toward that end. They may be small things at this point, but take a step.
