I think dress has become more informal in home businesses, especially if it’s mainly online where you don’t have customers/clients stopping by. When I go out, I don’t always “dress up” but do like to look professional. I have a denim shirt with embroidery on it that goes well with slacks, jeans or skirt over a t-shirt. Generally I get compliments on it. So I can be in my denims but still feel sort of “dressed up.”

I must say I don’t dress very professionally though. I’m a t-shirts and shorts kind of gal (no chicness, here, alas), and my mom jokes that the whole reason I became my own employer (no clients, thank you very much) was so I wouldn’t have to buy real clothes.
