Happy Father’s Day
June 21, 2009 by Mary Emma Allen
Generally in a home business, you can juggle your schedule around the holidays, although sometimes it’s difficult to get a whole day off if you have orders and deadlines. However, this is a day to spend with the Dads in one’s life…your father, your father-in-law, your children’s father, and others who have been a
father figure in your life.
My dad operated a dairy farm, so there was no day off from milking the cows. He did though, if the weather was nice, take us for a Sunday drive after church. We toted along a picnic lunch and drove to one of Father’s favorite spots… an overlook on the west side of the Hudson River near Poughkeepsie, NY. He relaxed in a lawn chair, enjoyed his lunch and watched the boats plying the river while we children ran and played in the parklike setting.
Then it was back home for chore time. But those memories linger as I think back upon Father’s Day of my childhood.
Are you making Father’s Day memories in your family? Are you taking pictures and recording them?
