Online Shopping for those with Health Issues
December 1, 2009 by Mary Emma Allen
When I wrote the post at Small Business Boomers, Why Have Seniors & Boomers Become Avid Online Shoppers, a reader responded and explained that health issues made this a handy way for her to shop. Even though she might not be in the boomer category (or wasat the very youngest end of the category), her escalating health issues were limiting her mobility. So online shopping appealed to her.
This fact, along with the increase of boomers and seniors shopping online, is something to consider with your home business. Perhaps your business is conducted entirely online. However, if you have a walk-in home shop, are your products ones you can ship easily to online shoppers?
Think of focusing some of your promotions on these categories of shoppers. Consider what items they need or use and consider how to approach these shoppers.
- Develop an e-mail list from your customers and ask if you might send them notices of new products or updates on how to use what you’re selling.
- Develop an e-newsletter and send this out periodically.
- Notice methods other businesses are using to appeal to online shoppers.
- Realize that more and more shoppers will be doing their purchasing online in the coming months and years.
How are you focusing your online shopping promotions to appeal to your customers?
