I think it sucks. But I’ve lamented this enough on my own blog and at Laura’s (who by the way directed me here). I think you bring up some excellent points. It’s such a mess. Every time they try to figure out what’s fair they $#@% it up. OT but related — In NM where I used to live, I worked with developmentally disabled workers (my last day job) the state wanted mandatory less pay for disabled workers. Which is such a crock. Mainly because what are qualifying disabilities? Autism, blindness, a broken arm? Some people consider pregnancy a disability. It’s a total mess. If we got our acts together and simply paid everyone a step above a living wage things might get better. Uh oh. I have got to stop my wage ranting. Sorry. But good post. The one about the different wage levels already is very pertinent.
