Can Writers Shy Away from the Blogging World?
March 11, 2008 by Mary Emma Allen
A met a writer friend today, and we caught up with what one another is doing in our writing businesses. When I explained about my blogging work, she shook her head and remarked, “I’ll stick with the writing I’m doing [referring to the traditional writing for a print publisher].”
She admitted that blogging is becoming popular, but she felt it wasn’t for her. I don’t think she even has a writer’s blog or web site. This is working for her so far, but what happens in the future in this evolving blogging world?
Can writers and other business people afford to disregard blogs? What do you think?

welll…… she can do without a blog, but not a website unless she’s got a niche already nailed… but since she’s bored with what she’s doing, a website is a must. In my not very humble opinion on the topic. See You’re a Writer – You Need a Website! at http://aboutfreelancewriting.com/articles/marketing/website.htm
Thanks, Anne, for your opinion on this matter. I agree, too, that a web presence (blog or web site) is a must nowadays if a writer wants to be known beyond their hometown. Perhaps for some writers that’s enough. So a writer must decide on their goals. However, for most becoming involved in the online world is imperative.
