HomeBizNotes.com

Often this grows out of something you may be doing as a hobby, have done when working for someone else, or have had as an intense interest.  If you’re not so experienced when you start, it’s a good idea to acquire knowledge about your particular business interest and continue to be informed …read more

Reader Questions:
Do you think that it would be too much to watch a baby or two plus two older kids (grade school age) is it better to watch just one age group?
At the daycare that I’m at now, I watch 4 babies plus at least 6 older kids (grade school and preschool). It’s ok, but it tends to get hectic sometimes. As a lone child care provider, I think I’m only allowed to have 4 kids in my care (which suits me fine). I just don’t want to overwhelm myself by mixing in too …read more

Reader Questions:
How do you keep a clean house, run an in home daycare and watch your kids?
I try to multitask, but I am more of a take one thing at a time type person when it comes to housework. I get easily overwhelmed by all that I have to do around this house.
What kinds of organizational skills do you have? Could you share them with us?
I want to keep my house (and myself) looking nice and I want to make a good impression for my up and coming home daycare business.

Reader Question:
Since you’ve successfully run a daycare for 5 years I thought maybe (if you have the time) you could offer some advice. Thanks!
I want to leave the daycare that I’m at. I don’t feel as though they respect me and I like being at home (I feel more comfortable there) and I want to make money doing what I’m good at. I just don’t want to start off on the wrong foot with my daycare, it could be costly not knowing what to do and how to do it. I want to do this …read more

Reader Question:
Do you have a book, dvd, or cd with any tips on how to successfully run an in home daycare?
I want to start a home daycare too. I have worked in daycare centers off and on throughout my life. I started working at a daycare when I was 14. I also have two kids of my own. I don’t really have a problem with watching kids except for the discipline area and with managing the daily tasks of having an in home business.

Am I Too Picky About Business Dress?

HomeBizNotes.com

As I sat in the airport watching passengers deplane or hurry along the concourse toward their gates, I wondered at the state of dress these days. Even people who obviously were carrying business briefcases or computer bags seemed to delight in baggy sweatshirts and jeans with holes.
Yes, there were a number in business dress, either professional or dressy casual. However, so many seemed dressed in drab colors and tattered clothes. Gone are the days, when I was growing up, that whenever we left the farm, we got out of our jeans and overalls and wore something neat and without holes. (I even …read more
