5 Ways to Use Prizes to Increase Traffic for Your Home Business

Gaining traffic, whether online or off, increases the success of your home business.  Using prizes to gain traffic has become very popular at web sites and blogs, especially those connected with businesses.  Also, many businesses donate prizes for the giveaways.

How do you use prizes and giveaways to increase traffic?

Here are just 5 ways:

  1. Use a business card drawing.  I’ve seen these at restaurants (free meal), airport park & ride (free car wash or week’s parking), office supplies ($s in office supplies), dry cleaners (suit or dress cleaned), etc.
  2. Fill out a coupon and drop it in a container for a drawing.  These are often utilized at a grocery for free shopping spree.
  3. Visit blogs and leave a comment for a prize drawing.
  4. Stop by a blog, then visit the prize donor’s site to choose a prize.  Return to the blog and leave a comment mentioning your choice.
  5. Visit a series of shops or blogs in a scavenger hunt.

These are just a few of the types of drawings for giveaways.  Generally these events are kept very simple to encourage participants.  If they’re difficult, many people won’t bother.  Your aim  is to encourage visitors/customers whether offline or on.

What do you use as a giveaway or contest?  Which type have you found most successful?

We’ve been having giveaways at the b5 Lifestyle channel, called Blogtober Fest.  Two blogs where I write, One Book Two Book and Quilting & Patchwork are participating.  One of the deadlines has passed, but two are still good today (Oct. 17) and another has a few more days.  Check them out at the above link.
