Home Office Deductions for Your Home Business

In regard to a previous post, Home Office Deductions – Capturing Expenses, Pam had the following question:
But what about if you have paid off your mortgage, what you can deduct for the office room then? (I am only meaning mortgage/rent, not the rest)  Can you use a typical rent in your location? It seems like if you can’t do that, you will have to take out a mortgage just to get that extra deduction?

Where you meet will be dictated largely by practicalities of geography and time. If the client is meeting you in their lunch break, it makes sense to meet close to where they work. For a number of reasons, you may also prefer to meet outside your home office.

Serviced offices
At a conference you are both attending

When I say home office, I use the term loosely to refer to your home business space.
