Tips on Maximizing a Blog for your Home Business
June 5, 2007 by Mary Emma Allen
Frequently, over the past month, I’ve discussed the advantage of using blogs for a home business…to inform your customers, publicize your products and services, and simply to add interest to what you offer. I feel blogs are going to become more and more popular as an effective PR method.
How does one learn to maximize a blog for a home business?
Check out Yvonne Russell’s post, Using a Blog for Your Writing Business, at her Grow Your Writing Business blog. She has researched this topic and presents a number of tips that could be utilized by many types of home businesses.
Yvonne, in rethinking her own blog and blogging experiences, has come up with a checklist to keep her on track which could aid other business bloggers as well. She covers topics such as:
*Content and Purpose
*Are You a Generous Blogger or a Lone Wolf?
*Navigation and Usability
*SEO and Traffic
*How Blogging Has Worked for Me

Thanks for pointing your readers to my checklist. I hope it will be useful.
As I have been developing and tweaking this checklist on an ongoing basis, I have noticed that in the blogging world, a checklist cannot be static.
Things change so quickly. New plugins become available and old ones superceded. Your blog direction may change or need to be fine tuned. Similarly, the checklist needs to be fine tuned too.
I have found it useful as a starting point, so hope your readers do too.
