10 Ways Blogging Helps With Business Promotion

Blogging has come into it’s own as more than an online journal to records one’s thoughts and activities. As we’ve mentioned in previous posts, it can greatly enhance the promotion of your home business.The following 10 ways blogging can help with business promotion were written for a writer’s home business and a blogging class I’m teaching. However, most of them can be adapted for other businesses as well.

  1. A blog gives you an online presence when you don’t have a web site.
  2. You can add to a blog daily or frequently.
  3. It serves as a calendar of events for your readers to follow.
  4. A blog enables your readers/fans/customers to correspond through comments.
  5. It’s a place for editors to find you [if you're a writer], customers/clients [if you have another type of business].
  6. You can acquire a following by visiting other blogs.
  7. Develop contests for your viewers to pique their interest.
  8. Create a blog for your characters [if you're a writer]…perhaps a mascot[ if you have a traditional business].
  9. With continued posting on your blog, you become known as an expert in your field.
  10. You can create fun activities and puzzles or post interesting little known information for your viewers.
