Software for Keeping Your Home Business Records

by Mary Emma Allen on August 14th, 2007

It’s so much easier nowadays to keep business records, as well as personal finance records, with the use of software programs designed especially for this use.  I recall those days, before computers and business software, when I had to keep ledgers by hand for a larger business my husband owned, as well as for the home business I operated.  This required hours and hours of entering figures and balancing books, then preparing records for tax returns, whether I did them or our accountant helped.

Nowadays, you have a variety of options to choose from, depending on your situation.  Most of these programs also will input the data right onto a tax preparation program.

Miranda Marquit of Yielding Wealth,  offers some good ideas for you in her post, Keeping Track of Your Finances with Personal Finance Software.  Even though Miranda is discussing personal finances, much of the information is applicable for home business finances.  We use the Quicken program Miranda mentions for business and personal finance recordkeeping.
