Taking a Day Off from Business

June 7, 2009 by Mary Emma Allen

Sometimes we have to take a day off from business, although a writer
often finds it difficult to stay away from the computer and jotting down her thoughts.  Yesterday was my granddaughter’s graduation from high school, so we mainly enjoyed the occasion with family who came from far and near to celebrate with us.

Since she was valedictorian of her class, she, of course, gave a speech.  I’d not heard nor seen it before, so had no inkling this young lady could write with knowledge, inspiration and humor.  Her presentation was unflawed as well.

Open house for friends and family throughout the afternoon resulted in food, fun and congeniality, as we enjoyed a cookout, visiting, and games like croquet and  Bocce ball.

I have the best of both worlds.  I can enjoy a special day with my family and still write about it for my work.  Even though I didn’t spend much time at the computer yesterday, I can share with my readers.

How do you juggle home business and family?
