I enjoyed the HP books because they were fun and engaging. I am not a fantasy fan, but they made me want to read more.

  8. August 19th, 2008 | 4:26 pm

I loved the Harry Potter books and I have collected all of them. I even have a UK version of one because I couldn’t wait until the US version was out. No, I didn’t show up at midnight at the bookstore to get one -I got on Amazon and made sure I was one of the first people to receive one by mail. I’m sad they are all done.

I’ve loved the Harry Potter books for many years now. I used to buy all sorts of things related to Harry Potter, honestly. As I got older, I stopped that but I was still a fan. I went to three midnight parties, love seeing the films, have two british versions (the first and second book) and like I said, lots of Harry Potter items (unauthorized books and more!). Harry Potter has just been a huge part of my life and I’m still very much interested in all aspects of it.

My husband works with a group of popular webcomics (science fiction, history, pop culture, and wizardry) who have quit their day jobs and struck out to find fame and fortune (or at least a decent income to support the family on) in entertaining millions with their creation.

The formula for success is within reach for most. This book among many will help nudge them that much further along.

There is a bit of self interest in wanting to win as well. 1. Being a fan of the recipients. 2. Our business is in a small way helping them stay in business…definitely a case of trickle down economics!

Thank you for hosting such a great contest/prize!

Interestingly, I didn’t know about the social marketing of the book; I only read stuff in newspapers for it. So getting this book would really fill in a big gap for me in terms of how this was done.

I own two sets of books. The first set is for my wife and me. The second is for my 9-year old stepson who came along after the whole thing started. He loves the movies. He has no idea how good the books are for him. Yet.

My daughter and I devoured all the Harry Potter books. We attended at least one of the “midnight release parties” together. Usually we read them in a day or a day and a half after we received them, so we are huge Harry Potter fans. The characters and settings are so detailed and the plots are so intricate that you are drawn into another world inside the books. Now she is a college sophomore studying Communications Management and Design – the business of running a business (studies in advertising, training, public relations, business writing, and so on.) This book would be perfect for her to read to support her studies – and I would enjoy reading it also! She might even be able to do a report or paper on the Harry Potter business phenomenon! Thanks for the opportunity to win!

    August 24th, 2008 | 5:12 pm

My son has learning disabilities and words (written and oral) are a challenge for him. Most books he is capable of reading are too immature for his age. So when the Harry Potter books came out, I started reading them to him. I have read all the books myself, and have read them all aloud to him. While waiting for the final book, I bought one of the “what will happen” books, and we discussed it. I’d love to read more about the phenomenon. (Incidentally, I fully expect to buy “Beetle the Bard.”)

The Harry Potter series of books are fairly masterful in evoking a whimsically twisted context of magical people and creatures, without leaving out the underlying darkness unfortunately pandemic in any society where death and ‘manifest destiny’ are still issues to power nightmares…

I’m intrigued by J.K. Rowling’s success and curious how she managed to corner the market in adolescent wish-fulfillment with a printed paper product amidst today’s electronic hullabaloo…

Nicely sidesteps the Buddhists’ “Attempting to reach enlightenment in one lifetime is considered ‘needy’ ” pitfall by spreading the angst over a good handful of years, both ‘in-story’ and ‘out-here’…

The books in the Harry Potter series are instant fantasy classics. Many, many years from now people will be discovering the world of Harry Potter much as people today enjoy the works of Tolkein and C.S. Lewis.

The Harry Potter books pushed my children to be better readers. It was required reading in the 3rd grade. I had heard some people say that they would not let their children read these books so I read it myself to check it out. From then on, my children and myself were all hooked on the Harry Potter books. It was great family fun!

I’d like this book because I majored in advertising in college and this book would seem to compliments this topic.

I’m fascinated by J.K. Rowling and how she managed to take this one idea and turn it into a phenomenon. Plus, I think Susan Gunelius is fab!
