What’s The Weirdest Job You’ve Ever Had?
April 9, 2008 by Yvonne Russell
As home business owners, we can think back fondly or otherwise to jobs we had in the workforce.
In a fun group writing project, Robert Hruzek at Middle Zone Musings wants to know about your odd job experiences… weird jobs, strange jobs, unusual jobs.
You may have done the job for years, one day… even a few hours. They could even be odd jobs, that you did for pin money, or a job you have now… perhaps even a weird job or task you had to do as part of your regular job. You can interpret it how you please.
What I Learned From Odd Jobs
Just write a post on “What I Learned From Odd Jobs”… short, long… whatever you like and send it to Robert by Sunday April 13th. He will collate all answers and link back to your blog.
As a bonus, you’ll also be listed at High Calling where Marcus is running a similar odd jobs project. The two blogs have combined forces.
I’m looking forward to reading these. I bet at least some of them will remind us exactly why we decided to work at home.
I’ll be writing something… not sure what yet. But if you don’t feel like writing a post, maybe you’d like to share some snippets with us in the comments here.

Howdy, Yvonne! Hey, thanks for the nod! I’m really looking forward to hearing the results from this one – they promise to be interesting reading!
Thanks for the link! I look forward to seeing what everyone comes up with.
Sounds like a fun project. I’ll have to see what I come up with. Wondering…what seems odd or weird may seem normal to someone else?
Wide open to interpretation Mary Emma… so that’s a good thing.
My weird job…
At one time I had a job counting dots…before the days of computer counting of the dots students made on tests scoring (bubble) sheets. This often was very monotonous, but I worked for a very pleasant couple, who managed that department at the university.
Grinding alfalfa…Another unusual job I had, years and years ago when I worked in a botany lab, was grinding alfalfa for testiing. We took handfuls of alfalfa that had been harvested and placed in small bags from different test plots. I shoved these through a small electric grinder type gadget and placed the ground up portions into containers. These later were given various tests (I don’t recall what they were). I simply remember sitting on a stool, hour after hour, and grinding the alfalfa. Fortunately this wasn’t an everyday task. Here again, the people I worked for(different people at a different university in a different state) were very pleasant.
